When will I find out if I am a National Merit Finalist?

I took the PSAT in the fall of 2007. I received a letter from New York University that read “Congratulations for your performance on the PSAT. We would like to extend and invitation for you to attend our National Merit Finalist Program.” I was a little confused, because I was told that semi-finalists will be officially notified in the fall of 2008, and the finalists will be notified during the month of February in 2009.
So does this letter mean that I am a finalist, and the official letter will come after some time?
Is the NYU National Merit Finalist Program directly affiliated with the National Merit Scholarship program (are all people invited to be in the NYU program official National Merit Scholars?)
Is there a website that lists all of this year’s National Merit Finalists?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I think it must be your high grade on your PSAT. This NYU program might be some sort of preview of the school thing or training. You’re right that semifinalists will be notified in fall 2008, and finalists notified in Feb 2009. There isn’t a full list of all National Merit Finalists. (I’ve searched for it.) I don’t remember being invited to the NYU program. Have you expressed interest in the school? If you have, then they’re probably interested in you.
